Storm King Theater is a flexible performance space, so the room may look a little different each time you visit. Depending on the event, seating may include traditional cinema seating, lounge or cabaret-style seating, floor seating, or another special configuration designed for the experience.
Some events allow you to reserve a specific seat or seating area, while others are general admission. Each event listing will clearly specify the seating arrangement and reservation details when you select your tickets.

We want every guest to feel welcome at Storm King Theater and will do our best to accommodate individual accessibility needs whenever possible.
Wheelchair-Accessible Seating
Our theater chairs are not permanently anchored to the floor, which gives us flexibility to adjust first-row seating.
If you reserve a seat in the first row and need that space to remain open for a wheelchair, simply let us know. We can remove the chair so you can still select the location that works best for you rather than being limited to one designated wheelchair area.
Accessible Restrooms
Storm King Theater has three ADA-compliant restrooms available for guests.
Hearing Accommodations
The theater does not currently have a permanent hearing-assistance system. Some performers and programs may offer additional hearing accommodations, and these opportunities will be noted in individual event listings or our programming guide when available.
We are also always open to recommendations that can help us make future programming more accessible.
Sensory Considerations
Movies, live music and performances can naturally include loud sound, changing lighting, crowds and other sensory elements.
Throughout the year, we will offer sensory-friendly programming specifically designed to create a more comfortable experience for guests with different sensory needs. Look for these events on our calendar and within individual program descriptions.
For any event, if there is something we can reasonably do to help make your experience more comfortable, please reach out. We are always happy to listen and explore what may be possible.
Additional Entry Time
If you would benefit from entering the theater before general seating begins, additional entry time is always available upon request. Please contact us before the event so we can be ready to welcome you.
Request an Accommodation

We love welcoming families to Storm King Theater and will offer a variety of movies, performances and special programs designed with different ages in mind.
Tickets for Children
Every guest who requires a seat must have their own ticket or reservation, regardless of age.
Children & Adult Supervision
Under normal circumstances, children under the age of 14 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult while in the theater.
From time to time, we may offer specially designated family programs where children can enjoy a movie or activity in the theater while their parent or guardian remains nearby in Hudson Hall or Storm King Lounge. Volunteers will be present in the theater to help monitor the program, but these are not drop-off events and parents or guardians must remain on the premises at all times.
These special programs will always be clearly identified in advance, along with any additional age requirements or participation guidelines.
Age Recommendations
Age recommendations and restrictions may vary by event. Programs intended for mature audiences will be clearly identified during the ticketing process so families can make an informed decision before reserving.
Family & Sensory-Friendly Programming
Family programming and sensory-friendly experiences will be included on our Event Calendar and highlighted throughout our seasonal programming overview.
Look for event descriptions and labels that make it easy to find experiences designed specifically for children, families and guests with sensory considerations.

For the safety of our guests and facility, bags may be subject to inspection before entry.

Strollers are permitted.
If your child needs to remain seated in a stroller during the event, please let us know in advance. We can adjust first-row seating to create an appropriate space whenever the event configuration allows.

We take the cinema experience seriously. Part of the magic of watching a movie together is being able to disappear into the story without unnecessary distractions.
To help everyone enjoy the film, we ask all guests to follow a few simple expectations:
Phones & Screens
Please silence your phone before the movie begins and keep screens off throughout the film.
Even a dimmed phone screen creates a noticeable blue light in a dark theater and can be distracting to the people around you. If you need to check your phone, please step outside the theater whenever possible.
Conversations
Please keep conversations to a minimum once the movie begins.
A quick whisper when necessary is understandable, but ongoing conversations can take other guests out of the experience. Please be mindful of the people seated around you.
Table Lanterns
Table lanterns should remain off during the movie.
If you need additional light for a moment, you are welcome to turn your lantern on briefly and then switch it back off as soon as possible.
Photography & Recording
Please do not photograph or record the movie while it is playing.
Taking a quick photo of your group or the theater before or after the film is welcome unless otherwise noted for a particular event.
Food & Beverages
Enjoy your concessions, but please be mindful of excessive noise from packaging, cups or other items during the film.
Coming & Going
If you need to leave the theater during the movie, please do so as quietly as possible and be mindful of guests around you when returning to your seat.
Be Considerate of Your Neighbors
Above all, please remember that everyone came to enjoy the same experience.
Keep screens dark, voices low and distractions to a minimum so the room can settle in, the lights can go down and the movie can do the rest.
Thank you for helping us protect and preserve the cinema experience.
